Saponificio Varesino 1945

Bardelli Dante had just returned to Brebbia from World War II in 1945, and was looking for a way to support his family. He began studying the chemical principles of saponification, and with the help of his wife, Ines, he began to produce soaps in his own home in the most traditional way.  The feedback from Dante’s neighbors and other townspeople from Brebbia was immediately positive, so much so that he decided to invest the proceeds from his soaps and properly register his company at the Varese Chamber of Commerce the following year. Using his side car and placing the boxes of soap on the passenger side, Bardelli Dante began to deliver his products door to door. He became a constant presence in the streets of the towns nearby, which allowed his products to become well known throughout the province.

The method of production that Bardelli Dante perfected is known as saponification, or caldron traditional processing. This method represents artisan tradition by which man created soap for centuries. The first phase, called saponification, converts the fats of glycerides and fatty acids into sodium salt. This first step is critical to producing the highest quality of soaps. Just as the tradition then, Saponificio Varesino still produces soap with this ancient and natural method, which ensures the final product to be top quality while never sacrificing cleaning power. The soaps are always a gentle and remain a soothing treatment for the skin.

After Saponificio Varesino’s adventurous start, the company quickly became an industry in all respects, specializing in the saponification of oils through the ancient Marseilles method, and soon became present all over Italy. Once consolidated in both structure and working techniques, the production was then carried out by Dante’s sons, Alvaro and Eleonora. In 2015, the third generation of family celebrated the 70th anniversary of Saponificio Varesino. Today, the brand represents the success of combining the most modern production methods and the experience gained throughout their history.
